Best Exercise Bike for 2021

 9/9/2021 5:19:10 PM GMT

Stationary exercise bikes provide a low impact, joint-friendly
workout that builds cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance.

An indoor cycling bike is great for aerobic exercise to improve pulmonary and cardio capacity, enhance blood oxygenation, and of course, fitness and weight loss. Indoor cycling also provides the ultimate convenience, as you can have a lengthy ride or grab a quickie 15-minute sprint anytime. It's also easy to use while watching TV, reading your favorite internet streams, browsing the web, or for die-hard workouts, while using your favorite exercise app on your smartphone or tablet.

The two most commonly used resistance systems on exercise bikes are: 1) Friction brakes - these have a brake pad (or pads) that come in contact with the flywheel, and they are manually adjusted with a dial, giving infinite levels of resistance, but lacking presets; and 2) Magnetic brakes - these vary resistance by moving closer to, or farther from, the flywheel, while never touching, and may or may not be electronically assisted. Friction brakes are less expensive, but since they come in contact with the flywheel, they may require more maintenance for things such as wear or noise. In contrast, Magnetic brakes are costlier, but relatively maintenance and noise free. If you plan on heavy, intense workouts, you should probably purchase an exercise bike with magnetic braking, as it will be more cost-effective in the long run.

An exercise bike provides a low-impact fitness workout that goes easy on your joints, but keep in mind that most exercise bikes have an upright configuration that mimics a bicycle's design. This may be a problem for users that suffer from lower back issues.

In these instances, you can purchase a recumbent bike that puts you in a seated position that relieves stress on the lower back and lets you enjoy all the other benefits of an exercise bike.

In determining the best exercise bikes available, we took into consideration drive mechanisms, frames, electronics, build quality, and budget; as well as comfort factors such as seats and handlebars.
